So I know I was a little vague with the whole "Boo for boys" cry me a river thing I did the day before Valentine's Day, but long story short is the hippie just wasn't that into me. Not the end of the world, mind you, I was just like, "Damn! I actually liked that guy" which is rare.
I was pretty sad the first day after it happened, but it's cool. Hopefully, we can be friends, cuz I still think he's rad and I know he thinks I'm awesome (just doesn't want to date me--not everyone can fall madly in love with me
).
But don't think I didn't bounce back right away--you know how I do. I took my keys to Ladd's Inn in SE Portland on Valentine's Day to sing at an open mic and had a blast! The venue was this great dive bar with cheap drinks, and I met some interesting characters.
Enter Dan. 26. Philadelphia import. Degree in Marketing. Restores cars. Plays guitar. Sings funny songs.
He approached me after my set (which was directly after his) to compliment my music and invite me and my friends to sit on the couch with him and his buddies.
We went out for Lebanese food last night (he remembered my ethnicity), which was awesome. Found my new favorite place to eat in Portland--Nicholas'--cheap, fast, awesome food and very authentic. The waitstaff could have been a bit more attentive, but it wasn't that bad. Then we went riding around in his. . . Spitfire? I want to say that's right--little British racing car, older, convertible. I've never ridden in a convertible, so it was pretty cool.
We went up to the highest point we could get to and hung out looking at the city down below. Called it an early night, and the strange thing is, I wasn't really feeling it. He's really nice and all, but I wasn't blown away by his awesomeness or anything, which makes me a little sad, but I'll definitely go out with him again to see if sparks fly. I wasn't going to kiss him, but as I leaned in for a hug, he went in, and I didn't want to shoot him down. Needless to say, I'm glad I did kiss him, because he is a magnificent kisser. Maybe sparks will fly after all, eh?
This weekend was awesome. Tamara and I did an 8 mile hike with 1500 ft elevation gain--Clackamas River Trail. It was really pretty and Tam did so good for her first hike, cuz it wasn't that mellow (for someone who isn't used to hiking, that is--I found it pretty easy. Definitely some climbs, but nothing that couldn't be handled.). Then we went out for cheap sushi that night. Sunday, Steph and I took a drive out to the coast and hung out at Cannon Beach. Then we drove back on a cool little highway (OR 202) that took us by a kick ass waterfall, an elk viewing area (where we saw at least a 50 elk heard grazing) and a neat county park that we spent the afternoon adverturizing (see photo below). I had the day off Monday for President's day, but didn't do much of anything.
This is Steph and I in the middle of the beaver dam, after we decided it would be a good idea to cross the river on the surprisingly sturdy structure. Beavers are industrious mother fuckers.
Steph got a new job! Hallelujah! I was going to have to kick her out on the 15th, but she got it together. Whew.
Anyway, I'll probably take my butt up to the Skyway tonight. I'm going to ask Tom and Tracy about playing dinner hour next week for $$ (first paying gig = badassness).
